I have always had health issues, so I know the drill. I went the the ER with heart issues and was basically pushed out being told it was a pulled muscle and that the waiting room was getting to full. Sure. Normal healthy looking mid 20s chick doesn't look like she'd have heart issues so ya push her out. I'm not a doctor, but I'm not an idiot either. I will never use St Clair for emergencies again.

It's better the St. Anthony's but if you don't have insurance they will stabilize and discharge you at their earliest opportunity. Their good for procedures and follow ups, but I will only use their ER if the severity of the injury will not allow for the transport to Barnes which is one of the best in the area. They will make sure that you are doing well before you are discharged.

Kim in the special care in the birthing place has been taken very good care of my nephew an she has been doing a wonderful job, I couldn't have a better nurse caring for him. She has been very upfront an keep us informed of what was happening, she made my sister more at ease spending time there. I would recommend her to work with any newborn! keep up the good work Kim your doing a very wonderful job!

I have had a horrible experience with the billing department at SSM Health. I had surgery 3 different times in the last year and have always had a great experience with the St. Clare hospital though the billing department and their customer service is atrocious. I called trying to resolve a billing issue about one month ago today and was not only lied to on that day by one of the customer service representatives (telling me that she had listened to a recording of a previous conversation and telling me that I wasn't telling the truth to then find out by her supervisor that the recording doesn't even exist), but then I was lied to by her supervisor, Tiffany, as she said that she would contact her director to see if we can resolve the issue and call me back to let me know what she found out. Not only did Tiffany never call me back on that conversation, but over the last couple of weeks she would not return my calls either. When you say you are going to call someone back, do it! She claimed that a letter was sent to me explaining everything, though the only letter that was sent to me was dated before we even had that conversation and it did not mention anything about the conversation that TIffany had with her director. Either she did not listen to anything I said or SSM Health does not care. Even though the medical care is excellent the billing department is in serious need of better customer service training. A simple phone call back would have been nice. Go somewhere else if you have a choice.

My mom recently spent a week at St. Clare Hospital, where she came via helicopter to the emergency room for acute care immediately following collapsing at home with seizures. She was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. During this very challenging week; in which a woman who had gardened, cooked, cleaned, played cards and generally done everything she wanted; suddenly struggled to say a word, and to endure the violent spasms of her right limbs; as well as to do such simple things as sit up, get out of bed, eat, etc., every health care professional who ministered to us approached us with patience and encouragement, along with excellent health care skills and expertise. As my mom's frustration escalated into unpleasant confrontations with the nurses, they continued to treat her with kindness, respect, and professionalism. The Lord reached out to us lovingly through every doctor, nurse, therapist, dietary aide, cleaning personnel, shuttle driver, etc., we encountered, as they offered to help in any way possible, and their cheerful, hopeful approach was a soothing balm to our bare souls. Even the rooms are incredibly comfortable: the 2 pieces of furniture that adjust into beds and the very spacious area were the perfect set-up for a Slumber Party with my daughter, while I struggled to maintain the level of care I enjoy "doting" on my kids (young adults) at home while stewarding well the privilege of helping my Mother through this difficult time at the hospital. I only wish I'd planned a Sleepover with Grandkids earlier on in the week as maybe then we had avoided the excruciating nights of wrestling my mom back into the middle of the bed as we told her over and over that it wasn't safe to get up without the help of a nurse;-/!!! As I told a gentleman (not sure what his "title" or job description is at the hospital), who was offering me warm blankets, fresh cold water and all kinds of things I can't remember, as I waited for my Mom in the MRI waiting area; I think of St. Clare as "God's Hospital". He kindly offered that the hospital motto embraces their mission as revealing the healing presence of God through exceptional health care services, to which I replied something to the effect of; "But many places have mottos that are in word only; which is certainly not the case at 'St. Clare, where every personnel I encounter lives it out beautifully." This may be the first review I've ever written, but even as we reel from my Mom's health crisis and continue to trust the Lord as we navigate her continued care while addressing my Dad's sudden onset of dementia-like symptoms, I wanted to take some time and share how much the Lord blessed us through our time at St. Clare Hospital. I would, without hesitation; recommend this hospital to anyone, any time for any health care need and will always thank the Lord for His Goodness in providing such a Haven as St. Clare Hospital:-)!!!
